High impact safety glasses are tested by shooting a ¼ inch steel ball at both the lenses and frames (as one unit) at a speed of 150 feet per second. If they glasses do not crack, chip or break, nor do the lenses come away from the frame, they will be given the maximum high impact safety rating and a marking of Z87+.
